About RateWatch Daily

RateWatch Daily explains how car insurance quotes are built and why two drivers on the same street pay different amounts.

We are an independent publisher. We do not sell insurance and do not broker quotes. Nothing on this site is a quote or an offer.

Our pages carry sponsored search results supplied by third-party advertising partners, and we may earn a commission when a reader interacts with them. We do not choose the advertisers shown and do not sell placement.

Figures are ranges from public sources and vary by driver, vehicle and state. Write to us to report an error and name the page.

How we research prices

Every dollar figure we publish comes from a named, published source, and those sources are listed at the end of each guide. We do not collect quotes on your behalf and we do not pass your details to anyone.

Editorial standards

Guides are written from published price data, not from opinion. Before a guide goes up, every figure in it is checked against the source it is credited to, and a figure we cannot tie to a published source does not get published — we describe the range in words instead. Ranges are printed as the sources publish them: where two studies disagree, we say so and give both, rather than picking the narrower number.

We revisit a guide when its sources change, and the date at the top of the page moves with it. Corrections are made on the page itself, not in a note somewhere else. Nobody can pay to appear in a guide, to change a figure, or to have a guide written.
